Tanya Adams
Vice President for Community Relations & Diversity

Tanya Adams has more than 30 years of experience with diversity initiatives, recruitment, and community outreach. Tanya is a Vice President for Community Relations & Diversity at WSP, an international engineering, planning, and design firm. WSP designs lasting solutions in the Transportation & Infrastructure, Property & Buildings, and Environment, Power, & Energy sectors. WSP's expertise ranges from environmental remediation and urban planning to engineering iconic buildings and designing sustainable transport networks and developing the energy sources of the future.

In her role, Tanya advocates for minority business involvement in both the engineering and business communities, as well as on WSP’s contracts. She is actively involved in diversity initiatives with community organizations, serving alongside many D/M/WBE and VOSB/SDVOSB partners, and developing and directing both internal and external programs to meet business diversity needs. Tanya assists D/M/WBE organizations with highly sensitive public and political issues that arise in their communities.

Tanya ensures that WSP has strong relationships with minority business communities to facilitate meaningful participation on WSP contracts and mentor/protégé relationships that help minority business partners strengthen and grow. Tanya also seeks out new firms for potential teaming opportunities with WSP. Tanya is the first African American woman in the state of Illinois to be elected to the board of the American Council for Engineering Companies (ACEC).

Tanya has received numerous professional awards, including the ACEC Distinguished Community Service Award and Conference of Minority Transportation Officials' (COMTO) 2016 Corporate Executive of the Year.

Prior to joining WSP, Tanya spent 19 years at the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) as an Employment Specialist. Tanya received a Bachelors degree in Political Science from Chicago State University and a Masters degree in Public Administration from University of Illinois at Springfield.
