Join WP+D for a networking brown bag on Wednesday, September 21 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. to discuss professional development and career plans with Septembers's featured guest, Leah Dawson Mooney, Director of Strategic Planning & Policy at the Chicago Transit Authority.
Leah Mooney is the Director of Strategic Planning & Policy for the Chicago Transit Authority and works for the Chief Planning Officer. She has worked for CTA for over eight years, and has been in the Planning Department for just over a year. The Strategic Planning team is responsible for planning major projects, such as the Red Purple Modernization and the Red Line Extension, the All Stations Accessibility Program (CTA’s plan to make all stations accessible within 20 years), and improvements for the Blue Line Forest Park Branch and the Brown Line. Strategic Planning also develops strategic bus projects, including a study of Lakefront corridor, performs market survey research, maintains the CTA’s GIS database and coordinates with outside agencies on numerous other strategic initiatives.
Prior to her role in Planning, Leah worked in the Infrastructure department, where she managed capital project budgets and oversaw the $80 million construction program management contract. She also worked for the City of Chicago’s Office of Budget and Management, first as an analyst and subsequently an Assistant Budget Director. Leah has a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature and Creative Writing from the Residential College at the University of Michigan, and she has a Master’s degree in Public Policy from University of Chicago, Harris School of Public Policy. Leah has a four year old and a 9-month old and enjoys swimming, reading, cooking and playing trains.
This is a members-only event limited to five participants. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunches.
As with every WP+D Small Networking Lunch, registration will open at 12:00 p.m. the first day of the month during which the lunch will be held. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis and typically fill up quickly.
Attendance & Cancellation Policy:
Due to the popularity of these lunches, we ask for a 48-hour cancellation notice if you are unable to attend. Failure to notify us will result in a 3 month suspension from the Networking Lunch series.
We ask that members register for no more than two consecutive lunches. If you have attended the past two lunches and are interested in attending this event, please e-mail us at email@example.com asking to be put on the waitlist. If spaces become available or registration isn't full a week in advance, we will contact you.
